We left Bateman Bay, clearly a prime holiday resort, after first doing some shopping and load the web pages to the internet. We plugged the data cable in our new bought Australian laptop and immediately had access to 8 Mb/S super fast internet. In minutes the hundreds of files, earlier prepared, were loaded up and had in the mean time all the time to browse the internet. We left for the south in clear sunny weather. Initially it was an endless stretch of holiday hotels, and holiday dwellings. After 15 km or so we came more in an area in which nature was again recognisable. The first detour was Guerilla Bay. Here a few houses were visible, hiding behind trees and bushes, but further blending in the environment. The view from the peninsula was impressive: clear sea and white crested waves. That looked good, so we decided to choose the next caravan park at Broulee. It was a beach side camping with excellent facilities, especially the pool was great. We were lucky as they had a site available. We explored the area and first looked at the beach, and saw clear blue sea and lots of surfers. So we decided to stay a night. The beach looked tempting to make a morning run. Mariska loved to play in the water and liked to be carried in deeper water. The girls could not get enough of it

Next day was indeed the running day. First Birgitt, as we never run together any more as one of us has to take care for Mariska, and at noon I made the long run, 15 km over the beach, to the very end of the beach as can be seen on an earlier picture. Running in the sand was very heavy and hot. Very hot. It took one hour 45 minutes and after that most of the time was used to recover. And to stay out of the sun as sunburn took its toll. But is was a test if my lungs were OK again after the dive accident in Tasmania. It was no problem, so it saves a visit to a doctor for a checkout.

We looked at the documentation from the tourist information office and it looked like all areas south of us were as nice. A good reason to pack again and look for another caravan park.

The next trip was further to the south. But before we left we at last could see how the beautiful ground palms multiplied: They produce an enormous cone, somewhat like a fir tree, and minimum 5 kg heavy. When old they turn brown.. Interesting of the seeds we took will germinate at home.

We see an interesting area with mangrove trees, They thrive in the brakish water. Our trip today goes via Potato Point (what's in a name) in the Eurobodalla National Park. We were impressed by the serenity but the caravan park they had no power and a little bit of rainwater. Rather primitive but the wildlife was so interesting that we decided to stay. And hardly we had positioned the campervan or a group of Emu's approached over the beach. We saw all around walibies and kangaroos. First we made a walk through the forest and it was great indeed. We could collect some seeds of fresh looking New Zealand spinach (tetragone), always good for a nice meal.
Suddenly we saw a few of that giant emu birds not too far away.
One was even curious but the giant bird soon ran away.

Mariska liked to ride in the baby seat and enjoyed the trip as well. Lots of insects were trying to feed on us and here a black mosquito can be seen a split second before he dies. Sometime the bush was so dense you had to manoeuvre to avoid the branches
Later we made another stroll along the beach and discovered beautiful sturdy plant which could survive in the hot sand. Amazing

After dinner it soon became dusk and many animals appeared. Mariska was playing with the rugby ball and thought a walibi was a playing. pal . The walibi escapes and Mariska followed the walibi over the field.
He seemed to enjoy the game, he waited till Mariska was close and then ran away, and waited again.
That game went over and over again.
At last, after loud laughing chased by Mariska, the poor animal came at an area with many kangaroos. Here Mariska lost track of her little playmate and she selected another walibi to attack. This one liked to play but Mariska got tired and lost interest in the nice animal. Now he and his mother were waiting for attention.. At last The mother cares for the young one and said goodbye to Mariska
